Pretoria – An adequate supply of young, inspired teachers is part of the government’s long-term plan to improve public schools, an education symposium heard.
“There needs to be an optimal distribution of teachers and effective in-service teacher development,” basic education departmentdirector-general Bobby Soobrayan said in Pretoria.
He was presenting a gazetted draft of the “Action plan to 2014: toward the realisation of schooling 2025”.
Soobrayan said effective schooling required teaching, textbooks and time.
