The Professional Educators Union had a fruitful and successful General Executive Council meeting over the weekend in Hammanskraal. The Council was the penultimate event prior to the Congress, scheduled for the first week of October in Pretoria. The Council will be followed by a serious of Provincial and Districts meetings, whose express purpose will be to communicate and cascade important resolutions to structures and entire union membership. The use of stick in our school is still a challenge that puts most of our teachers on the wrong side of the law. Corporal punishment is outlawed in all of our schools and no amount of reasons put forward to justify the action ever be taken.
